Israel Corner

Dear all,

I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you and tell you a little bit about myself.

I have been a proud and active member of the Masorti movement in Israel and of Noam Israel since the age of ten. Noam and the Masorti movement provided me with a safe and tolerant place to enquire study, explore my Jewish identity and examine my beliefs in a place between tradition and modernity.

I graduated from the Masorti high school in Jerusalem , and hold a B.A. degree in Criminology from Bar-Ilan University.

During my military service, I was an operator and instructor for heavy machinery in the Military Engineering Corps. Upon completion of my military service I returned to Noam to head the Leadership Training Course. I held this post for several years and progressed onwards to take on a role as Director of Educational Programming.

Tikun Olam has been a dominant theme in my life. I have devoted energies for many years towards coordinating social action projects in Noam and most recently with students in Hillel Israel . For the past several years I have taught informal classes in creative writing for young children from troubled homes.

The initial focus of my work as a new Shlicha [emissary] here in the UK is to begin to understand the members of the communities, from Noam and Marom to the synagogues, their needs, their aspirations and to begin to build relationships. I am looking forward to working with all NOAM members and strengthening their connection to Israel and Zionism.

I'm very excited to join the AMS and Noam UK and as an Israeli Shlicha I wish to continue to develop our connection and partnership with our sister movements in Israel - Noam and the Masorti Movement.

I, together with my husband Yoel, have been very warmly welcomed to the UK and I look forward to continuing to learn from and spend more time with you all.

Hag Sameach,

Reli Israeli

We have a new Shlicha called Reli. Whilst she doesn't quite have as much facial hair as Assael, she is extremely wonderful, and will be filling this page with Israel news.

Contact her at reli@masorti.org.uk to say hi!!
